Tucked away on a two-hectare peninsula of subtropical gardens near Monaco, this wedding cake white stucco palace, built in 1880 by a Russian Prince, feels more like a private estate than a hotel. The rooms range from 14 sprawling suites in the mansion with huge sea-view terraces to simple ocean-liner rooms at the water’s edge. With a mini cinema, an infinity pool, a spacious, state-of-the-art gym, plus a spa, indoor pool, a small beach, and a superb gastronomic restaurant, there is little reason to venture outside the gates.
