Four Seasons Resort Hualalai
The pick of the Hawaii Four Seasons hotels
Perfectly situated on the sunnier Kona coast of the ‘Big Island’, the always reliable Four Seasons hotel has had to tweak its slightly starched image in order to bed in better with the Hawaii vibe. Thankfully, it seems that they’re capable of letting their hair down, though the dependable mainstays of the Four Seasons are present and correct such as bathrooms so big you feel you need to leave a trail of breadcrumbs to find your way back to the rooms. Lower levels floors have outdoor bamboo roofed showers. The views out across the ocean are breathtaking in their beauty and the Polynesian vibe is enhanced come the night time when the pathways are lined with tiki torches. The sea urchins and the slippery lava rock means however, that this is a beach view best taken in from the comfort of the sun bed, rather than in the shallow reefs themselves.
