Café de la Presse
Parisian sophistication in central SF

Though it opened its doors in 2005, this place is old-world through and through. Modelled after a 1930s French bistro (think vintage posters, period light fixtures and dark wood-panelled walls), the downtown restaurant-bar does much to lure the city’s smart set with its more than 500 international newsstand titles, a refined menu of classic dishes like cassoulet, coquilles and Saint Jacques and an exclusive blend of Spanish wine served by the carafe – an elegant affair best topped off with the chef’s to-die-for chocolate mousse.
