Achingly hip (perhaps too much so for some) this is the ultimate 21st century Toronto crash pad. With rotating art exhibitions and the odd performance piece (the past few years have seen spoken word poets reciting their work over breakfast and strip tease acts letting loose in the lobby) this is a sleek and sturdy expanse of steel, terrazzo and mahogany that succeeds in satisfying beyond the surface hipster appeal. Rooms are on the bijou side but come fully tooled up with high speed wi-fi. Though the main temptations lie in the heated roof terrace bar and the basement venue which hosts one of the city’s most eclectic gig rosters.
