Edenhouse
A rambling country house straight out of an LP Hartley novel where you’re welcomed as part of the family

Nestled in the sun drenched Orinoco valley, this little explored corner of the South Island, complete with softly undulating hills and an all but deserted coastline boasts, according to locals, more sunshine than anywhere else in New Zealand. Edenhouse is a wonderfully laid back retreat with a single two bedroom cottage and two rooms in the main house. It’s like stepping into an effortlessly comfy pair of slippers thanks to hosts Pete and Bobbie Martin who have created a space filled with rose gardens, bluebells and a resident friendly Labrador. They’ll arrange trips to the nearby Te Waikoropupu Springs or simply leave you to curl up in the den and library on those rare days when the sun isn’t beating down.
