Stay Extraordinary

Beneath the Indian Ocean, atop a Thai clifftop, or on a private island all your own – Hilton's most exclusive properties across the Maldives and Thailand are setting a new standard for what resort travel can be.

Sponsored by

There was a time when the calibre of a luxury resort could almost be measured in sheer numbers – in its thread counts and butler ratio, its Michelin stars and chandelier carats, in the length of its wine list and the square footage of its suites. And while such amenities remain telling indicators of a property’s inclination for detail and service, they’re no longer the jet-set magnets they once were. The things thoughtful travellers seek today are much harder to quantify: seclusion, privacy, space, access, immersion. The extraordinary.

Hilton has received the message. Set within the brand’s exclusive properties in some of the most sought-after reaches of paradise across the Maldives and Thailand, a host of truly exceptional accommodations await to turn a memorable stay into an experience unlike anything else.

The Muraka at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
Access to the Unexpected

Few places on earth demand so little of the imagination, beginning on arrival: the seaplane, guests’ exclusive transfer from the international airport in Malé, banks gently over a tiny, lush atoll, the water beneath shifting through every shade of blue before the floats touch down.

At Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, spread across two naturally formed islands in the South Ari Atoll, nature does much of the work. The atoll’s protected waters form a year-round refuge for whale sharks, while manta rays, turtles and reef sharks inhabit the surrounding seas. Coral gardens and shoals of brilliantly coloured fish flourish directly off the shores of the resort.

Nowhere is this affinity with the ocean more fully realised than in The Muraka – the world’s first undersea residence. The two-level, 550sqm retreat begins above water as a private island home, complete with its own arrival jetty, expansive living and dining areas, a private gym, an infinity pool and separate decks positioned for sunrise and sunset. A 24-hour butler attends to requests both small and large, whether it’s a cocktail to enjoy by the pool, or a private dining excursion on a sandbar all your own.

The pièce de résistance, however, is the master suite: suspended five metres beneath the surface and enclosed in an acrylic dome, it grants cinematic views of the underwater world from every angle. Reef fish flicker through streams of daylight, rays and turtles glide overhead. Truly immersive, even the ensuite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe look into the sea, while a viewing tunnel offers yet another perspective for fascination and reflection.

This compelling connection to the ocean extends throughout the resort, from the spacious beach suites and overwater villas to the holistic spa, bespoke yacht charters and 12 distinct dining concepts, among them Ithaa – the world’s first undersea restaurant, where just 14 diners savour an island-inspired menu as they watch the natural theatre beyond the acrylic walls. Together with private snorkelling excursions, guided marine encounters and service calibrated around each guest, these experiences turn a stay at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island into an encounter with the ocean itself.

Ithaafushi: The Private Island at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi
Freedom from the Ordinary

A 40-minute journey from Malé aboard the resort's luxury yacht, the trip to Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi sets the scene for a fitting arrival at such a singular place. The resort’s expansive collection of private-pool villas, acclaimed restaurants and botanical garden spa has long set the standard for the Maldives at its most considered and complete. Attended by a dedicated Personal Concierge, guests want for very little.

And yet, for those who will settle for nothing less than everything, there is Ithaafushi – The Private Island. No fewer than 32,000 square metres of tropical seclusion, it is the largest private island in the Maldives – a sanctuary of palm gardens, white sand and mint-blue lagoon reserved for a single group of up to 18 guests. Nine bedrooms are divided between three retreats, from a two-bedroom overwater villa with an infinity pool seemingly suspended between sea and sky, to a three-bedroom beach villa occupying its own stretch of shoreline with two pools and an outdoor Jacuzzi. The four-bedroom residence provides the island’s principal gathering place, opening directly onto expansive gardens and the beach.

Each is connected by the unhurried rhythms of a place that operates entirely on its guests' terms, not governed by hotel timetables. Breakfast might arrive in a floating basket in the pool; lunch may be laid beneath the palms; dinner could be taken barefoot on the beach, accompanied by Bodu Beru drummers and prepared by the island’s culinary team. Guests can snorkel the house reef, take a catamaran into the lagoon or have a private cinema assembled beneath the stars. Tennis and padel courts, an entertainment centre and a private spa and fitness centre – with a wellness concierge and overwater pavilion – mean the island functions as a completely self-contained retreat.

Should guests be inclined to experience the wider Waldorf Astoria resort, it remains only a three-minute boat ride away, with its litany of amenities including 11 speciality dining venues, extensive water sport offerings, lively social spaces and acclaimed Waldorf Astoria Spa.

The Residence at Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa
Connection without Compromise

North Malé Atoll has long numbered among the Maldives’ most sought-after addresses, and Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa makes a persuasive case for why. Set on a lush private island just 20 minutes from Velana International Airport by speedboat, it’s close enough for guests to exchange the runway for the beach without boarding a seaplane, yet removed enough to feel like another world. Private-pool villas extend over the lagoon or open onto the sand, while eight restaurants and lounges, an Amingiri Spa & Hammam and the vivid waters of the atoll supply ample reasons to explore.

It is also a resort that understands the particular pleasure of being together, as a multigenerational family or among cherished friends. That understanding finds its fullest expression in The Residence – a six-bedroom, 4,000sqm private estate designed for the pursuit of shared experience. Occupying its own cove, with an exclusive beach and private arrival pier, it accommodates up to 12 guests while providing plenty of room to retreat. Two master suites come with private pools and direct beach access, while four further bedrooms open onto sunlit decks, with steps descending straight into the sea; all six boast ensuite bathrooms and open-air showers.

Days tend to unfold around the expansive main pool, where a sunken lounge and fire feature create a natural hub for conversation and relaxation. Inside, a glass-walled living room keeps the ocean ever-present, while a private cinema and music lounge allow the group to shape nights entirely to their mood. A team of Guest Experience Makers ensures every member of the party has everything they need, whether it’s a massage in the spa suite, a yoga session in the open-air pavilion or something cold and refreshing whipped up by the in-house mixologist. Accommodating all ages, the retreat even has its own playroom, complete with a ball pit and a wide array of toys and hands-on activities.

When the group wishes to venture beyond the cove, the resort’s extensive dining repertoire, as well as its spa, dive centre, art studio and pristine beaches await.

The Pearl at Conrad Koh Samui
The Beauty of Perspective

Perched on Koh Samui’s secluded southwestern coast, where an emerald hillside descends towards the Gulf of Thailand, Conrad Koh Samui is blessed with one of Southeast Asia's most cinematic locations. Here, 82 infinity pool villas cascade towards the water, each angled for absolute privacy and oriented toward 180-degree ocean panoramas that can become downright transcendent at sunset. The resort reveals its ethos as openly as its views – a working on-site farm supplies 70% of the produce for its restaurants, while Thai cultural experiences connect guests to the island's living traditions, and a spa rooted in time-honoured wellness practices ensures restoration runs equally as deep.

In October 2027, however, Conrad Koh Samui will open its most extraordinary chapter yet. Positioned at the resort's highest point – quite literally above it all – The Pearl is a one-bedroom presidential residence of rare and breathtaking ambition. Spanning 766sqm across two levels, its scale commands almost as much attention as its setting. A 20-metre infinity pool appears to dissolve into the sea below, while a jacuzzi, a dining deck and an expansive sun terrace blend living space with the exquisite outdoor environment. A private spa sanctuary, equipped with a sauna, steam room, treatment room, hot and cold plunge tubs, and workout area, provides for complete revitalisation without ever having to leave the retreat. Likewise, a dedicated chef transforms meals into private culinary journeys. Overseeing it all is a dedicated Resort Host, able to shape each day around its guests.

Yet The Pearl’s exclusivity doesn’t sacrifice connection. The restaurants, farm, spa and cultural experiences of the wider resort remain close at hand whenever a change of scene is in order. Nor is exclusivity confined to the summit: every villa at Conrad Koh Samui is its own haven of privacy and perspective, supported by the same intuitive Conrad hospitality. The Pearl may be the resort’s most elevated expression, but the privilege of staying here begins long before reaching its highest point.
