Rosewood Luang Prabang
Jungle lodgings near UNESCO-listed intrigue
Twenty-three accommodations, including tented villas, peek out from a hillside in the dense Laotian jungle, which provides quiet sanctuary just 10 minutes from lively Luang Prabang. Kitted out by (Bill) BENSLEY designers in homage to an early-1900s hill station and its French colonial stylings, the guest rooms are dotted with quirks such as old newspaper clippings, croquet mallets and vintage Kodak cameras. The Great House lays on farm-to-table dining that stays true to local customs and tastes, while the Elephant Bridge Bar is the place to enjoy classic cocktails sprinkled with herbs and spices from the locale. And in the centre is the swimming pool, enveloped by forest and next to a waterfall, with the chance of a game of pétanque nearby too.
