Fabergé Lady Compliquée Winter & Peacock

Faberge create two new high-complication watches for 2015: strictly for demanding female horological enthusiasts

For 2015 famed marque Fabergé is back with a new collection of women’s watches that focus on aesthetic beauty, originality, and mechanical complexity.

Working closely with Geneva-based mechanical movement design company Agenhor – known for their intelligent and visually pleasing complications – Fabergé placed a calibre 6901 movement in the new Lady Compliquée, a movement representative of the Agenhor's reputation. This new mechanism can be found in both the Lady Compliquée Peacock, and the Lady Compliquée Winter. Each being technically similar, they differentiate with their own visual themes.

The main calibre 6901 is special for its use of a rotating mother-of-peal ring on the dial to indicate the hours, and a fan-style display to indicate the minutes. Simple to understand, the underlying mechanics for this system however are complicated; based on the new AgenFAN assembly in the movement.

Of further interest for the mechanically curious, Aghenor created a new, simple to adjust balance wheel with a system known as AgenPIT. The main purpose of the system is to remove the need for a traditional regulation system that makes it more efficient to adjust the accuracy of the movement without disturbing the balance spring.

An additional benefit to the unique nature of the 6901 Lady Compliquée movement is that it offer a very distinct look, visible through the rear sapphire crystal caseback window.

Both the Lady Compliquée Peacock and Winter watches comes exclusively in platinum cases at 38mm wide, and decorated with 54 diamonds. Additional precious and semi-precious stones of various sizes and colours such as tsavories and tourmalines decorate the dial of the Lady Compliquée Peacock.

Much of the Lady Compliquée Winter dial consists of mother-of-pearl marquetry, the reading of which requires some adjustment beforehand. A precise reading of the time can be found via the hour ring and the retrograde minute hand indicator system, which when taken together offer the quarter hours and then individual minutes.

Even with built-in exclusivity, these watches are not part of a limited edition.
