Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ arrival in Colombo ups the ante on oriental elegance

Sponsored by

A new gateway to Sri Lanka is set to open on 17th November when Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts makes its Colombo debut.

Nestled along the Galle Face Green, the capital’s expansive ocean-side promenade, the elegant property welcomes guests with Shangri-La’s signature personalised hospitality.

Inside, superlative views of the Indian Ocean draw guests into the 500 rooms and suites, while 41 serviced apartments invite long-term retreats. The rooms are among the biggest in Colombo, combining subtle luxe accents of marble and silk with high-end technology, while the 34 suites are some of the city’s most exquisite, offering a personal butler service and access to the Horizon Club Lounge, the largest hotel executive lounge in Colombo.

A contemporary dining hotspot made up of six restaurants, bars and lounges will excite guests looking for innovative menus, local cuisine and live entertainment. Shang Palace, crowned the most authentic Chinese restaurant in the city, features a custom-made duck oven, dim sum kitchen and tableside tea ceremonies.

Guests looking to unwind after a long flight can take a time out at CHI, The Spa, where traditional Asian inspired treatments and therapies rejuvenate body and mind. Next to the seven treatment rooms, an outside swimming pool, personal training, steam rooms and 24-hour gym will reinvigorate guests.

Another of Shangri-La Colombo’s many highlights is its 4,500sq m events venue – the most extensive in Sri Lanka – which includes two ballrooms and function rooms for 1500 guests.

Joining Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa, which opened the previous year, Shangri-La Colombo is expected to be one of the country’s most celebrated hotel launches in 30 years.
