Widely considered one of the most important collections of Asian art on the planet, this 57-year-old museum benefitted from a $160m move to a storied Beau Arts-style edifice in city’s Civic Center district in 2003. The museum today boasts an immense arsenal of some 18,000 paintings, bronzes, furniture and other artefacts spanning 6,000 years and hundreds of cultures and subcultures throughout the continent, a programme regularly buttressed by a exciting line-up of travelling exhibitions.
