An Astral Accomplishment
Heesen’s Galatica Super Nova motor yacht aims for the skies in ambition… and succeeds

A mere 41 months passed from the cutting of the first aluminium plates in to the delivery of Galactica Super Nova in May – a feat made more astonishing by the 70m motor yacht’s array of innovative features. A collaboration between Heesen and Dutch naval architects Van Oossanen, with interiors by Sander Sinot from Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design and exterior lines by Espen Oeino, she is notable for being the first unit of the high-performance Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF).
The hull, along with a new propulsion system consisting of 2 MTU wing engines with fixed pitch propellers and a third engine placed centrally with a Rolls-Royce booster waterjet, helps Galactica Super Nova go from 0 to 30 knots in just 75 seconds and make her one of the fastest displacement yachts yet built.
Style goes hand in hand with speed as Oeino’s exterior lines offer a head-turning twist to the classic Heesen DNA. Inside, the in-demand Sinot – 19 spectacular interiors for luxury yachts so far, including a 109m project with Pride Mega Yachts, the Dutchman is also working on another project with Heesen as well as a 92m yacht with Feadship – produces distinctive designs.
Accommodating 12 guests in six cabins, Galactica Super Nova has a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 14 knots and will be able to cross the Atlantic without refueling, thanks to a fuel capacity of nearly 90,000 litres. Heesen has truly aimed for the stars with a project that should prove a universal success.
