Christophe Claret Marguerite

Butterfly iconography and romantic phrases personify this new limited edition of ultra-luxe women’s watches by Christophe Claret

Independent Swiss watch maker Christophe Claret will soon release the brand’s second major women’s watch – the Marguerite.

Following the Margot, their first women’s piece, the Marguerite shares the same large 42.5mm wide case in a variety of precious metals. In spite of their size, both retain an elegant sense of femininity.

Simple, yet poetic the Marguerite emphasises visual splendour over mechanical complexity. Christophe Claret as a brand attempts to shun the notion of “stuffy and conservative” watchmaking, focusing instead of highly refined and satisfying ‘toys for adults’.

A special dial on the Marguerite with two settings (switched using the pusher at 2 o’clock) allows for the peripheral dial on the face to either indicate the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock hour markers, or the phrase “Il m’aime passionnément”. This optical effect is achieved by using special overlapping discs, a first for any Christophe Claret timepiece.

In two varieties, emboldened with red or blue accents, the centre of the watch features either a large ruby or blue sapphire. The metal elements on the dial are in 18k white or rose gold while the backdrop is mother-of-pearl. Fascinating and legible, the dial of the Christophe Claret Marguerite is a remarkable testament to the creativity which is increasingly available in the luxury watch industry for women.

The Marguerite case is decorated with a new ‘flake setting’ of diamonds over all of the bezel and lug structures.

Inside the watch and visible through the sapphire crystal caseback window is an in-house made Christophe Claret caliber MT115 automatic movement operating at 4Hz with 72 hours of maximum power reserve. Bold by design, the Christophe Claret Marguerite watch as each version will be limited to just 30 pieces.
