Once the Villa St. Louis where Scott Fitzgerald spent the summer of 1926 writing Tender is the Night, this family-run 43-room hotel has elegant suites with a bow-window vista of the sea, period 1930s furnishings and an atmospheric Fitzgerald bar. There’s also a small private beach and restaurant, plus a pier for waterskiing, but nothing tops the romantic dining terrace of the gastronomic restaurant, headed by chef Yoric Tièche and Gault&Millau’s newly-elected pastry chef of the year, Steve Moracchini.
