London’s Design Museum hosts the first museum show of a private watch collection. The OAK collection (for One of a Kind) has been built over 40 years by businessman Patrick Getreide. 160 models, contemporary and vintage, all in mint condition, many unique Patek Philippe or Rolex, plus stories like the 1945 Rolex given by the secretary of the Italian Communist party to the doctor who saved his life. Aston Martin has made 100,000 cars in a century. Girard Perregaux made 18 of the first watch, sold in hours. This time it's 188. It won't be enough.
