77-metre Smeralda arrives in the Mediterranean, seeks owner
Following her recent launch on a sunny March morning at the Hanseatic Marine yard in Australia, über-yacht Smeralda has now arrived in the Mediterranean.
With her sleek hull lines and 560t of displacement, the powerful vessel generates a top speed of over 27 knots, representing a new era of groundbreakingly fuel efficient long range cruising yachts and resulting in a range of 4,500 nautical miles when cruising at 18 knots, equipped with twin MTU engines ( 16V 4,000 M90 – 2,720 kW at 2,100 rpm) that speed her up.
Smeralda is a power pack with many records on the books. Firstly, she is the largest superyacht to be built in Australia to date, with her 77-metre lightweight aluminium construction, quantum zero speed stabilisers placed forward and aft, and eco-proven fuel efficient credentials. She looks impressive yet very elegant and petit, whereas other boats this size would look bold and voluminous. She's a pleasure for the eye when plying the sea.
Smeralda was designed by prolific Norwegian naval architect Espen Øino, who's responsible for some of the most spectacular boats that have ever been built, starting from the 71-metre Skat (Lürssen) to the recently delivered giant 134-metre Serene (Fincantieri). Having also created the Silver series, which includes 73-metre Rabdan (formerly Silver) and 73-metre Dragonfly (formerly Silver Zwei), he's practically the master of the yachting universe when it comes to innovative yacht designs.
Smeralda is also a testament of the capabilities of the designers, the project team and the experts at the Henderson-based shipyard, where they work on the highest level of luxury craftsmanship and outfitting. The Italian-inspired interiors were designed by Andreas Holnburger of Vain interiors in Germany, featuring American walnut panelling, high-gloss lacquers and bespoke custom finishes such as tailormade carpets, woven leathers and artisan stonework.
The immaculate build is on the market now and offers a total of nine guest cabins plus the owner’s suite, as well as plenty of capacity for luxury living. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the 4th unit in the Silver series soon.
