Compared to the Tonda Perpetual Calendar watch the Annual Calendar makes a number of dial changes for a cleaner look. The difference between a Perpetual Calendar and Annual Calendar is that an Annual Calendar does not take into consideration leap years – and must be manually adjusted once a year.

Aesthetically speaking that means the Perpetual Calendar has one additional indicator on the dial (for the leap years). While technically based on similar in–house made movement modules, Parmigiani opted to sweeten the face on the Tonda Annual Calendar with dials for the month and day of the week indicators. There is also a dual hemisphere moon phase indicator, time, and a very attractive looking retrograde date indicator presented around the periphery of the dial. It is a charming and symmetrical look that well defines the DNA of the brand.

Design for the dial further falls in to what we sometimes call “modern mashup.” The hour indicators, hands, and finishes are intentionally inconsistent offering the viewer a range of textures and styles to view on the same dial. The trick to these design mashup dials is having the various elements work together cohesively. On this watch you’ll notice this effect in action as the top, bottom, centre, and periphery of the face each have distinct personalities.

Parmigiani will offer two styles of the Tonda Annual watch. One is in 18k white gold and the other in 18k rose gold. The white gold model will come with a black dial with a machine engraved middle, while the rose gold model is matched to a “yellow silvered” dial. Inside the watch is the in–house made Parmigiani produced caliber PF 339 automatic annual calendar movement.
